Who founded Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation of Ukraine?

The founders of the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation are a circle of members from the Supervisory Board, graduates, and employees of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, a university that was established in 1615 as the first higher education institution in Ukraine and continues its leadership mission in Ukrainian education nowadays. The main idea and goal of the Foundation is to support development projects of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy that impact not only the institution itself but also benefit the entire Ukrainian higher education and Ukraine in general. That's why there is an important condition of the Foundation's activities - a focus on specific directions (learn about the Foundation's main goals for 2023) rather than operational expenses of the Academy. Additionally, the Academic Council of the university provided the recommendation for establishing the Foundation.

The founders of the Foundation make up the Board of Managing Participants of the fund, which is the highest governing body, which function, according to the statute, is dealing with all kinds of matters related to the fund's activities: making changes to the law, decisions regarding reorganization or сlosure of the organization, approval of symbols, the establishment of the Supervisory Board and Executive Directorate, etc. The Board of Managing Participants conducts its work through meetings. Additionally, to ensure the organization of the Board's work, a Chairman of the Board is elected from among the managing participants for a 3-year term by the Borad's members.

Taras Lukachuk

Taras Lukachuk, a graduate of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Social Sciences Department, 1997), gained recognition as a talented leader. He was a Vice President at Kraft Foods and area Director of Ukraine and New Markets, Eastern Europe and Central Asia from 2011 to 2015. After that, he was the President of EEMEA, the Coffee category at Jacobs Douwe Egberts (Mondelēz International). Taras is also the founder of the fellowship "Best Teacher-Mentor," awarded to the KMA teachers.

 

Serhiy Kvit

Serhiy Kvit is one of the critical individuals of the KMA community, twice the President of the Academy (2007-2014; 2022-present), the 9th Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine (2014 - 2016), a professor at Kyiv-Mohyla School of Journalism. From 2019 to 2022, he led the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.

 

Oleksandr Savruk

Oleksandr Savruk is the Dean of Kyiv-Mohyla Business School and a member of the academic council of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Oleksandr also actively participated in the creation of the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation's strategy.

 

Konstiantyn Peresiedov

Konstiantyn Peresiedov is a graduate of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (2004-2008) and the Association of KMA Alumni Chairman. As one of the founders of the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation, Konstantyn embodies the Association of KMA Alumni, which participates in decision-making and establishing strategic goals.

 

Zoia Lytvyn

Zoia Lytvyn, a graduate of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (the Department of Economics, bachelor's program, 2003-2009) and Kyiv-Mohyla School of Journalism (master's program). In 2013, she founded the "Osvitoria" public association, whose primary mission is to develop Ukrainian education. Zoia plays an important role in establishing strategic goals related specifically to educational programs and scholarships.

 

Hennadii Zubko

Hennadii Zubko is a renowned Ukrainian politician and researcher, who has been a good friend of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy for many years. Hennadii is a graduate of Kyiv-Mohyla Business School. Moreover, he established an annual scholarship for KMA students. 

 

Olesia Ostrovska-Liuta

Olesia Ostrovska-Liuta is a graduate of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (the Department of Humanities, 1994-2000) and a renowned cultural figure. Olesia has extensive experience in charitable projects: worked in the International Renaissance Foundation, was a project manager at the charitable Foundation of Rinat Akhmetov "Development of Ukraine" (2008 - 2014), headed the Board of the "Center for Contemporary Art" Foundation (2010 - 2014). Currently, she is the General Director of the Mystetskyi Arsenal.

 

Inna Sovsun

Inna Sovsun is a graduate of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Political Science, 2001-2005), an active public figure and member of parliament. She worked as a manager of educational projects in the Civic Network "OPORA." From 2014 to 2016, she was Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Education and Science.
