Announcing the second competition for the Gleb Ivanov Memorial Scholarship
18.09.2025
The Faculty of Social Sciences and Social Technologies at NaUKMA announces the second competition for the Memorial Scholarship in memory of the late NaUKMA student Gleb Ivanov. Gleb studied political science and was due to graduate in the summer of 2023. After the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, Gleb Ivanov was mobilized into the ranks of the territorial defense forces – the 205th Battalion of the 241st Brigade. Gleb took part in the defense of Kyiv, and later, as part of his unit, he defended the skies over Kyiv until the end of December. Despite his participation in combat operations, the student found time to attend seminars and sought knowledge. In early January, Gleb Ivanov's unit was sent to the city of Bakhmut. On January 13, 2023, Gleb was killed in battle on the outskirts of Bakhmut.
The scholarship is an opportunity to honor the memory of Gleb Ivanov, his thirst for knowledge, and his sincere devotion to his alma mater. The decision to establish the scholarship was made by the student's parents, using funds raised at an evening in his memory.
“Gleb was part of a wonderful community that he sincerely loved (ed. the Mohyla community). Now it has become part of our lives.” (From a post by his father, Yaroslav Ivanov)
The scholarship is awarded annually to NaUKMA students who are enrolled in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of the bachelor's program in Political Science on a contract basis, based on the results of a competition in the form of targeted charitable assistance to pay for educational services for one year of study.
Starting in 2025-2026, we want to honor not only Gleb's dedication to learning, but also his extraordinary activity in the Mohyla community. We plan to award a second scholarship to students who are enrolled in their second, third, or fourth year of study in any FSSST specialty and are involved in the student organization “Vstup. NaUKMA” to which Hlib once belonged. This scholarship is also provided in the form of targeted charitable assistance for the payment of educational services in the amount of UAH 40,000.
The scholarship fund is financed by targeted donations to the Hlib Ivanov Memorial Scholarship Fund. The second scholarship is being established thanks to funds collected by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Social Technologies for memorial scholarships for deceased students and graduates of the faculty during 2025.
