Kyiv Mohyla Academy launches a robotics lab
16.05.2025
Another shelter and a modern robotics laboratory have been opened at the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
We are pleased to announce the completion of emergency repair work in the basement of the first building of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. The full-scale war has forced Ukrainian universities to look for new ways to protect their students and faculty. For Kyiv Mohyla Academy, this also became an opportunity to rethink spaces that had been neglected for decades. The basement of the first building had long served as a technical space housing communications and storage. But with the start of the war, it required urgent reconstruction.
Thanks to the support of the company Cargill, we were able not only to upgrade the infrastructure and create a comfortable and safe shelter, but also to equip a full-fledged robotics laboratory for students of the Faculty of Informatics. This was made possible by the charitable contribution of Cargill.
“We understand the importance of STEM education in general, and in particular for the agricultural sector, which is one of the leading sectors of Ukraine’s economy and the heart of Cargill’s business globally.
Thanks to the charitable initiative of Cargill’s shareholders, and the Cargill team in Ukraine and Europe, we decided to contribute to the creation of a Robotics Laboratory for the Faculty of Informatics at NaUKMA,” says Mykola Khomenko, CFO of LLC JV “Cargill,” a graduate and lecturer at NaUKMA.
This initiative not only provides the necessary resources for practical training but also prepares and inspires the next generation of engineers by equipping them with the tools necessary for a successful career.
Cargill’s support for Kyiv-Vohyla Academy illustrates our belief in the importance of knowledge and community in building a successful future for Ukraine. We are happy to connect the paths of Cargill and Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, starting a new chapter in the history of this legendary university.
Dean of the Faculty of Informatics Andriy Hlybovets emphasizes:
“We launched the 'Robotics' track to give students the tools for practical work in the real sector — from smart homes and industrial robotic systems to drones for the agricultural sector and demining territories in Ukraine. We want this laboratory to become a living space — a place where students not only attend courses but also create, experiment, spend their free time, and launch their own projects. It should be a true startup garage within the walls of Mohylianka.”
This project is more than just construction work. It is an investment in education, science, and people. It is a story about how care turns into opportunity for the future generation of Ukrainian engineers.
The development of the shelter and robotics classrooms was made possible thanks to the support of Cargill and the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation.
