Scholarship Fund named after Artem Sviridov
About the Project
The Artem Sviridov Scholarship Fund is a long-term initiative of the alumni community of the Master’s program in Healthcare Management at NaUKMA, created to honor Artem’s memory and continue the values he lived by and sought to bring into Ukraine’s healthcare system.
Artem Sviridov was a soldier, medic, and student who combined service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine with his master’s studies. He believed that after victory, Ukraine would need changes in medicine no less profound than those required during the war — changes grounded in humanity, transparency, and professionalism. He was killed on August 28, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission.
Artem was able to study in the program thanks to his sincere commitment and full scholarship support from the Razom for Ukraine Foundation. The scholarship was one of the important factors that supported Artem’s aspirations and made his studies accessible.
The Fund was created as a way to continue his intention to change the system by supporting new leaders in healthcare.
Project Goal
The goal of the initiative is to create a sustainable endowment of UAH 2,500,000, which will make it possible to fund a full scholarship each year for one incoming student of the Master’s program in Healthcare Management at NaUKMA.
Project Objectives
The project aims to create a sustainable mechanism to support students of the Master’s program in Healthcare Management at NaUKMA who seek to develop Ukraine’s healthcare system.
The main objectives of the project are to:
-
create a dedicated endowment capital, the income from which will fund a full scholarship each year;
-
ensure long-term, rather than one-time, support for the education of future healthcare managers;
-
support people who have the potential to influence change in medicine but need financial assistance to pursue their studies;
-
preserve Artem’s memory through action, education, and the development of the next generation of leaders;
-
create an example of sustainable philanthropy in Ukraine through the endowment model.
Project Impact
The Artem Sviridov Scholarship Fund has three levels of impact.
-
Memory Through Action
The endowment transforms the memory of Artem into sustainable support for values-driven people — year after year, generation after generation.
-
Education for Changing Healthcare
The scholarship supports those who seek to receive high-quality management education and work toward change in Ukraine’s healthcare system.
-
A Ukrainian Endowment Case
This initiative will become an example of a new wave of philanthropy: a single contribution from donors continues to work as capital that generates resources for education every year.
How the Endowment Works
The funds raised form an endowment — capital that is not spent directly.
- The principal capital is invested in government bonds.
- Investment income is used each year to fund the scholarship.
- A portion of the income may be reinvested to preserve and grow the capital.
This approach allows the fund to operate over the long term and preserve its value over time.
Who the Scholarship Supports
The scholarship is intended for people who already have experience serving the country and are ready to take responsibility for change in the healthcare system:
- servicewomen and servicemen;
- veterans;
- nurses and medical assistants.
Why This Matters
The Fund brings together people who believe in change through education and responsible leadership. It is an investment in those who will shape Ukraine’s healthcare system after the war — making it more humane, transparent, and effective.
The initiative honors the memory of Artem Sviridov and continues what he believed in: that real change is made by people who are ready to take responsibility.
